When Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey, the people waved palm branches and
shouted shouts of Hosanna! Their long-awaited king was finally here and the “praise” that
flowed out of their hearts was that of a Hosanna, “Please save us!” This is what Hosanna
means. And while saving them and saving us is precisely why Jesus came to this earth in the
first place, the cry that rose to meet His ears that triumphant day had more to do with the
desperate needs of people than it had to do with praising the One who came to save them.
“Praise the Lord!” This is what hallelujah means. Have you ever wondered how often is our
“praise” a hosanna rather than a hallelujah? How often is our praise to God based on what He
can do for us instead of a reflection and heart felt response of adoration and worship of who
He is? How often is our praise to God based on what we want from Him instead of a loud
declaration that He, Himself, is all we need? How often is our praise a hosanna rather than a
hallelujah?
Last Wednesday the kids enjoyed hunting eggs, all had fun and found plenty of candy filled
eggs. The Mimbs sisters took the prizes for most eggs found. Kloie in the Pre-K – 2nd grade
group and Ivy in the 3rd – 5th grade group.
Hallelujah, He is risen!
